Week 11 - Learning Journal

 Week 11 - CST338

This past week introduced me to IntelliJ and Java, which was a noticeable shift coming from languages like Python, JS, and Go.

I'd say the biggest challenge was getting comfortable with IntelliJ itself. It's VERY similar to VSCode; however, there're just some things and extensions that I'm not used to. I personally don't autofill my code often. Java is also very strict with capitalization as well, which autocomplete helps with; however, it still takes some time to get used to.

Java is very resource easy so I see why a lot of app devs use it. There's full on databases full on Java out there. It's a relatively simple language, just syntax of course kills us all.

Week 4 - Learning Journal

Week 4 Learning Journal Part One: Educational Goals After this week’s readings on goal setting, I realize that education isn’t just about passing classes - it’s about creating a clear mission for my learning . Using the guidance from MindTools and LiveCareer, I’m defining my educational goal not just as “finish the degree,” but: My educational goal is to graduate with a deep, usable understanding of core computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, systems design) and to build the discipline of continuous learning so I can stay relevant beyond the classroom. Week 5 Learning Journal

 What have I learned this week?     I've learned to lead initiatives more often and helping guide my teammates at work and in a group setting for my classes. Additionally, many students have the same view as me as far as grad school goes. We all think it heavily depends on the subject and many people definitely have time to pursue one as most of them offer online courses. The 3 capstone projects I think would be a good idea to pursue?     EzDashboard, this catches my attention as I see the use for this at work. It works similarly to prometheus and grafana(which are data ingestion tools that show infrastructure/security issues)     Traffic tracer, this is another one. This application uses merchants cameras to gather foot traffic. This could be useful for accidents on the road. Or.. crimes?     Date and be safe, this is actually quite huge.
